To put it simply, Affiliate Marketing means you put a company's banner on your website, or advertise for that company, to get visitors to their website. If someone clicks on that banner or goes to that website and buys something, you will be paid a commission. In some cases, you will be paid for that person to join a company's program.

It's very easy to join these programs, but be careful! The rules and regulations you must follow to get commissions can vary greatly from program to program. With most, you will not get paid until your commission reaches $50 or $100. And with others, you won't get paid at all if you don't reach a pre-defined number of sales by "your" visitors! Be sure you carefully read the affiliate rules or agreement.

Don't - I repeat - DON'T promote the affiliate site they give you when you sign up. Build your own website. People are more likely to buy because they perceive it as a "real" site. Put together a simple site that focuses on your area of interest - something you have knowledge of and that you enjoy.
